– “I didn’t catch that, I was busy making one of these foosball teams black.”- Shelly – The way that Justin saw his meeting with Nikki going down. – The uncomfortably long “pop” session when Justin attempted to play it cool with Nikki. – “Sometimes, you can just think things!”- Justin Here are some of my favorite quotes/moments from the episode: Perhaps all hope is not lost for NBC’s comedy lineup after all. Sitcoms, to be beloved, have to have heart. He still did it in a hilarious, cynical, “I love myself more than anyone else” sort of way, but it was perfect for the character. However, Danny cares about Justin and thinks of him as a real friend, and you can tell by the way he handled himself in this episode. It’s easy in today’s comedy spectrum to see the narcissist (Danny, in this case) take center stage (see: Sheldon Cooper). Justin’s bout with his ex-girlfriend (I love Briga Heelan, so I was rooting for them) and Burski’s slow burn relationship with Leslie are perfect reasons to love this show. But, this episode was also the perfect opportunity to talk about those characteristics. Since I’m not the usual reviewer, I wanted to give some background on my opinions of the show. Shelly is definitely my favorite character. He could recite Shakespeare, and I would find it absolutely hilarious. For instance, I laugh every single time that Ron Funches opens his mouth. The supporting players are all great, as well, but some stand out above the rest.

Chris D’Elia is the perfect cynic with a heart of gold. Brent Morin plays a quirky, lovable Justin. Perhaps the greatest strength Undateable has is in its characters. While there’s nothing new about a sitcom set primarily in a bar, Undateable’s particular crew of crazies is both hilarious and endearing, making the perfect combination for a good comedy show. They bring a multi-camera sitcom (which is rare enough in this day and age), and they give it material you can relate to, along with quirky but fun characters. But Undateable brings something that is very rare on today’s comedy spectrum. That, of course, is my number one criteria for a comedy series. Justin’s ex-girlfriend, Nikki (Briga Heelan), returns to town to announce her engagement, so Danny and the rest of the guys try to keep him from doing something stupid. This week on Undateable: Burski upsets Leslie with his words.

However, if you’re looking for a good comedy series to pick up, I would look no further than NBC’s Undateable. The networks are ripe with comedy shows that aren’t funny, or ones that no one cares enough about.

In this day and age, we have so much trouble finding good comedy shows. Danny's attractive sister, Leslie, has similar fears about being undateable, having the "baggage" of being a mid-30s divorcee.Friends. While Danny himself has good luck getting women into bed, he is unable or unwilling to form a lasting commitment with any of them.

Justin and his friends - the nerdy Burski, oddball Shelly, and recently out-of-the-closet gay guy Brett - all have certain qualities that make them appear "undateable". A promising candidate is Justin, the owner of Black Eyes Bar in Detroit (frequently mispronounced "Black Guys Bar"). When his last remaining friend Shannon moves out to get married, Danny searches for a new roommate. The gang spends most of their time at Justin's bar, helping solve each other's respective problems over beers, and while they love to give each other a hard time, they always have each other's back.ĭanny Burton is a 30-ish carefree single guy who has watched most of his friends move on to serious relationships. Danny introduces the gang to his recently divorced older sister, Leslie, who immediately bonds with this group of guys, as she feels a little stuck in her own life as well. Confident, attractive and impervious to outside opinions, 29-year-old Danny – who may be in a state of arrested development himself – decides to help out his new roommate, Justin Kearney, the owner of an unsuccessful bar and a chronic overthinker, and Justin's group of oddball friends – Shelly, Burski and Brett. Most of us eventually grow out of it, but some people need a little more help than others. Whether it's due to a lack of style, the wrong job, or even just a bad haircut, everyone goes through a time in their lives when they're undateable.
